Course content

Year 9:

Component 1: Fitness and Body Systems – Topic 1: Applied anatomy and physiology; Topic 2: Movement analysis; Topic 3: Physical Training

Year 10:

Component 2: Health and Performance – Topic 1: Health, fitness and well-being; Topic 2: Sports psychology; Topic 3: Socio-cultural influences

Year 11:

Exam preparation: theory and practical aspects of the course


Assessment

Component 1 – 36%; 90 marks; One hour forty-five minutes.

Component 2 – 24%; 70 marks; One hour fifteen minutes

Practical Performance – 30%: one team activity (10%); one individual activity (10%); one team OR individual activity (10%); 105 marks in total.

Personal Exercise Programme (PEP) – 10%; 20 marks; 1500 word project to plan, carry out and analyse a training programme.
