Course Content
Year 9:
Weimar and Nazi Germany, 1918-1939 (Paper 3). Students will begin with their Modern Depth study looking at Weimar Germany before focusing on the rise of Hitler and the Nazi Party. They will then learn about how Hitler turned Germany into a dictatorship, before learning about life in Nazi Germany
Crime and Punishment through time, 1000-present day (Paper 1). Students will then begin their thematic study, focusing on crime, punishment and law enforcement from the year 1000 to the present day.
Year 10:
Crime and Punishment through time, 1000-present day (Paper 1). Students will continue their thematic study, focusing on crime, punishment and law enforcement from the year 1000 to the present day. This will also include their historic environment study. This focuses on crime, policing and the inner city in Whitechapel, c1870-c1900.
Henry VIII and his ministers, 1509-1540 (Paper 2). Students will move on to their British depth study, studying Henry VIII, his ministers and the changes to religion during this period.
Year 11:
Superpower relations and the Cold War, 1941-1991 (Paper 2). Students will study their final paper, the Period study, over the course of Year 11. This will focus on the relationship between the USA and the USSR and the key events of the Cold War.
Assessment
This course is assessed in three written exams:
Paper 1: Crime and Punishment through time, c1000-present - 30%
Paper 2: Superpower relations and the Cold War, 1941-91, Henry VIII and his ministers, 1509-40 - 40%
Paper 3: Modern Depth Study: Weimar and Nazi Germany 1918-39 - 30%
