Suggested Reading Lists

Advice on Reading
Students do not have to stick to their own year group list. However, we would recommend that years 7 to 9 read the next year up only. On the other hand, year 11 students should consider books on the lists for years 9 and 10 as well.

The year 11 list is far more extensive than previously and some books are marked as A or IB indicating texts for A level and International Baccalaureate respectively. Any students who wish to take English at this level are strongly recommended to read extensively from this list.

Finally, we have also this year colour-coded the titles in each year group list as follows:-

In addition some green books are marked with a © which indicates a particularly easy read, to encourage participation by reluctant readers.
