23 July 2010 - Letter 7

Beginning of Term Arrangements in September

We wish all students and their families a very enjoyable and restful summer break, after an outstanding year packed full of hard work and memorable extra-curricular trips and performances. Our new Year 7 intake and the Sixth Form will begin the new school year on Tuesday 31 August and we welcome all other students back on Wednesday 1 September 2010.

Get Reading this Summer

The summer holiday is a great time to engross yourself in an exciting book. The English Department have put together reading lists for each year group, which are on our website. Please can parents have a look at our list of recommendations for their son / daughter’s reading over the summer and during next year.

16 July 2010 - Letter 6

Summer Concert

Parents thoroughly enjoyed the Summer Concert held on Tuesday this week and could be heard saying ‘that was really good’, ‘I really enjoyed the evening’, as they made their way home. We have such tremendous talent at Ashcroft Academy it is always lovely to hear praise for their efforts.

GCSE Science Choice

All Year 10 students have been given a letter detailing the choice of GCSE course they can opt to study at Year 11.

SET Week Inter-School Challenge

Well done to the students who represented Ashcroft Academy in the SET Week Challenge, held here on Wednesday 7 July. The day involved teams of 6 students from different schools competing in a Science and Technology Challenge.

Year 7 Parents Evening - Wednesday 14 July

Students in Year 7 have all been given appointment sheets for next week’s Parents Evening. Can parents please make sure that their son/daughter makes appointments to meet with all their subject teachers.

2 July 2010 - Letter 4

Restaurant Update

The restaurant will be closing for refurbishment after next Friday 9 July and as a result we shall have a greatly reduced provision which we hope will not inconvenience students and staff too greatly.

Alice in Wonderland

For those of you who came along to one of the performances of Alice in Wonderland we do hope you enjoyed our adaptation.

Alice in Wonderland

Have you purchased your tickets yet? The KS3 production of Alice in Wonderland takes place next week. The first performance is on Wednesday 30 June at 5.30pm and the second performance on Thursday 1 July at 7.00pm.

Music Scholarships

We are pleased to offer a number of academy music scholarships to help students achieve their highest potential. The awards are made initially for one year, their continuation being based on satisfactory progress and commitment shown in music in curricular and extra-curricular activities.
