Our Programme
The Community Programme at Ashcroft Technology Academy serves to provide access to our specialist facilities, equipment and staff expertise through a range of projects and initiatives.
The programme includes:
- Access to specialist facilities and support for primary and special schools.
- Access to specialist equipment.
- Club activities for primary students.
- Science, Engineering and Technology(SET) Week Primary Challenge.
- Activities to promote Numeracy eg Primary Maths Challenge.
- ICT Technical Support.
- ICT Training for Parents and Carers.
- ICT Training for Senior Citizen community.
- Family Learning Programme for parents and children
Access for local schools to specialist facilities and support includes:
- ICT training for Primary staff and special schools.
- ICT lessons for classes of Primary pupils and special schools.
Year 7 Parent Workshop -
'Managing the teenage years'
We will be running an evening seminar here at the Academy as part of our Community Programme led by our school counsellor, Julie Johnson, on Thursday 11th March from 6.00-8.00pm. Details of the workshop can be downloaded below.
Year 7 Parent Seminar
ICT Training for parents and carers
Run on a Thursday evening from 6-8pm and taught by our ICT staff and specialist trainers, these courses serve to introduce parents and carers of our KS3 students to both basic ICT skills using our state of the art 'industry standard' IT network, hardware and software. The courses include use of the internet and practical use of a wide range of software packages as well as an Introduction to the European Computer Driving License qualification, a European recognised proficiency qualification in ICT - recommended for parents keen to gain a recognised ICT qualification.
