Criteria

Specialist Places

Up to 21 places will be allocated on the basis of an aptitude for Design & Technology and Information Technology.

All applicants for specialist places should complete a supplementary application form. They will then be invited into the Academy to take a short test for aptitude in Technology.

General Places

All applicants will be placed in one of five bands, based on their score in the Wandsworth Year 6 Non-Verbal Reasoning Test. Once the specialist places have been allocated the remaining applications will be divided equally between five bands and children will be allocated a place on the basis of the oversubscription criteria detailed below so that equal numbers are admitted from each band.

After the admission of students with statements of Special Educational Needs where the Ashcroft Technology Academy is named in the statements, the criteria will be applied in the order in which they are set out below:

  • Children in public care
  • Children whose siblings currently attend the school and who will continue to do so on the date of admission; (ie a natural brother or sister, or half-brother or sister, or a legally adopted brother or sister or half-brother or sister; who will be living with them at the same address at the date of their entry to the Academy).
  • Children who live nearest the Academy using the shortest walking route with street lighting, as measured by Wandsworth Council Geographical Information System.
